2016 at Dathanna Architecture

What a busy start to 2016 at Dathanna Architecture; a flurry of new projects have arrived on our desks, so we decided to give you a quick update to show a little insight into the range of works we currently have on the drawing boards!

Our residential project portfolio is expanding rapidly at present. In 2015, we completed works on Sandyford III with Clarinda Construction; a full range of before and after photographs, and an outline of the project may be viewed here: http://www.dathanna.ie/#!sandyford-iii/czej

On the drawing board .....

We also have a number of exciting and very different new projects at various stages of feasibility sketches and also just successfully through the planning stage, and have added these to our website to give further insight into the variety of projects which we are involved in at the moment.

Stillorgan I involves a house re-model with two storey extension to the side, and a unique single storey living oasis to the rear, creating a series of indoor / outdoor spaces within the current north facing garden, and maximises on daylight levels. This is expected to commence on site mid-Spring 2016.

Drumcondra II is an end of terrace dwelling which has just received planning for a single storey kitchen extension to the rear. This is an exciting bespoke design project with some unique glazing features; more details to follow on this one, but this is expected to go to site in mid-spring 2016 also.

On site .....

Ballinteer I commenced on site with Amazon Developments in January 2016. This involves a new side garden development. In order to facilitate this, the owners are carrying out some alterations to their existing dwelling, which involves the demolition of an earlier side extension. This in turn allows for the site to be subdivided to provide a detached two storey, two bedroomed dwelling with converted attic.

M-House in Naas, Co. Kildare is almost completed, and will be occupied in February 2016. We should have some final updates and exciting project photographs later this spring.

Drumcondra I is a mid-terrace dwelling dating from the early 1900's and works involve a complete house remodel, with part single / part two storey extension to the rear. This is due for completion in March 2016.

Conservation ....

Our conservation project portfolio is also progressing rapidly. In 2015, we have provided a consultancy conservation service to other architectural practices and have collaborated on a number of successful planning applications. Our role has included the preparation of conservation reports and architectural heritage impact assessments which form part of the larger planning application and we have done so on a number of very different projects which involve development works to protected structures - a residential project in Dublin 6, and two very different but exciting mews projects within the curtilage of protected structures in Dublin city centre. For more information on what the additional requirements are when working with protected structures, see the following link: http://www.dathanna.ie/#!conservation/cki5

In keeping up to date with current conservation issues on a broader scale, Deirdre also attended the Attingham Summer School in July 2015 in the UK, which provided a unique and privileged insight into the many of the issues relating to the conservation and preservation of the country house and associated contents, and in tandem to study the architectural and social history of such properties.

We hope you enjoy perusing through our new projects and updates; do follow us on Facebook for regular site updates also.

Kind Regards

Deirdre & Alan
