PROJECT DETAILS

A small project in a protected structure on Upper Leeson Street involved interventions to re-decorate a hall level apartment.  A section 5 Declaration of exemption from planning permission was successfully received by the owner in 2015.  Dathanna Architecture’s role involved the co-ordination and project management of a series of direct labour contractors to execute the project.

Works primarily involved the removal of a 20th century partition dividing the rear reception room of the ground floor.  The original window had previously been replaced with four no. casement windows, with a large central mullion, which the partition subdivided.

The removal of the partition wall allowed for the return of the room to its original form.  The casement window was also removed.  Previously bricked up splayed reveals were re-formed, which allowed the installation of a new double hung sliding sash window & panelled shutters, with profiled details to match that of the window in the front reception room.

Other works included localised strengthening to the existing floor joists, the reinstatement of a decorative centrepiece on the ceiling, and reinstatement of missing sections of the decorative cornice.
